Hi, on the 22 december i had Mtx injection with 5000 hcg, on day 4 it went to 7000, on day 7 went back to 5000 on day 10 went to 190. My question is how long it takes to clear. Will my right tube will be affected ? I am back in hospital next wend for bloods again. I am still bleeding but not very much, no pain either. Just worried.. also are there any follow ups to do to check the fellopian tubes? Is it any way to prevent another ectopic pregnancy? Sorry for all the questions. Thanks.
Hi Simona, very sorry for your EP, it's never easy. The MTX is working beautifully, your hcg behaviour is text book. To get right down to zero it may still take a while, in my experience, below 100 it seems they are crawling down...it's a pain! Your right tube may still have been affected unfortunately, the possibility of blockages is high and so it's always worth having a check once the situation has fully stabilised (i.e. 2 periods since the injection or 3 months, whichever comes first). You have have a minimally invasive procedure to check clearance of the tubes (check when you go back to the hospital), there are two types, one is a sonohysterosalpingogram, or the more traditional one is the hysterosalpingogram, it depends a bit which one they can offer. Keep us posted!
So sorry about your EP.I also had the methotrelate two years ago but my levels were about 900 so I was back to 0 3 weeks after the injection. I did have a follow up to check my tubes but maybe because of previous miscarriages I had and they offered me the HSG.No blockages thankfully but it doesn't guarantee that I won't have another ectopic. I recently had another miscarriage and I ovulated from the left tube wich it was were my EP was and the egg travelled to the uterus so it didn't get stuck but unfortunately another miscarriage for me. Best of luck and be very patient and kind to yourself. Hugs.
